Halliday West Limited is an independent practice of Chartered Building Surveyors providing specialist surveying and architectural services to private individuals, corporations and the public sector in relation to all forms of property and building works. The practice is RICS Regulated and also provides consultancy services to larger firms of surveyors, engineers and architects.

We aim to provide a high quality of service delivered within tight time-scales to meet exact client requirements and at a competitive fee level. The principals have considerable experience in the profession gained over more than 25 years, working both in the private and public sectors. Based in Chelmsford since 1994, the practice advises on property and building projects throughout the country.

Chartered Building Surveyor qualified 1988.
Experience gained in Local Authority Building Control between 1979 - 1982 and various Private Practice in Essex until 1993.
Founder of Mark Halliday Associates in 1993.
Director of Halliday West Associates and Halliday West Limited from 1994.
Mark Halliday specializes in computer aided architectural design for schemes of new build, alteration, extension and conversion to all types of property.
Preparation of architectural plans using computer aided design for the purpose of obtaining Planning Permission and Building Regulations approval, the detailing of building works for tender purposes and to aid construction.
We have been working with Halliday West since 2005 on many projects, residential and commercial.

The preparation of detailed Specifications and Schedules of Works to form part of tender packages, inviting tenders from reputable building contractors, analyzing and reporting tender submissions, arranging contract documentation and the commencement of works; including fulfilling the role of Project Coordinator under the Construction Design and Management Regulations.
Valuing and certifying works in progress and at practical completion, agreeing final accounts and arranging for rectification works all form part of services offered by Halliday West.
When purchasing or leasing a building, or in the planning stage of schemes of redevelopment, alteration and extension, a comprehensive building survey is essential.
The report needs to clearly identify defects and propose remedies so that the client can make a reasoned decision on whether to proceed with purchase or acquisition.
Reasoned and balanced reports provide the client with information as to the extent of works required to bring property in disrepair into good condition and the likely associated costs of such works.
The Practice is regularly involved with many aspects of Historic Building Consultancy.
Both Principals have extensive knowledge in the survey of historic buildings and have prepared many schemes for sympathetic conservation.
Halliday West are regularly employed by larger practices of Surveyors and Architects to provide specialist reports on condition on many varied and diverse historic buildings ranging from large stately homes, dockyards and naval buildings to smaller water mills, cottages and glasshouses.
