read more › Richard has 22 years' post qualification building surveying experience. In 2005 he was elected a member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation and in 2007 was accredited in Building Conservation with the RICS. Richard previously worked for Storey Sons & Parker where he qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor. In 1993 he joined a Durham based Architects practice where he undertook a wide range of surveying duties and project management on a variety of property types. To further his experience in the Historic building sector Richard joined a building surveying practice in York where he spent 9 years working on a wide variety of historic buildings including Grade I listed castles and stately homes.

read more › Maddison James Associates secured grants in excess of 100,000 to fit out this new village hall. In addition terms were negotiated with North Yorkshire County Council for the village hall to accommodate the first self issue library in North Yorkshire. The works were for the removal of an unsightly 1960's garage extension to the rear of the Grade I listed Hall and the construction of a new build extension, following consultation with and approval of the scheme by English Heritage. The building was constructed using traditional materials including hand made clay tiles and hand made bricks bedded in lime mortar.
