David Cutler Associates is a Chartered Surveyor and Architectural Consultancy practice based near Fordingbridge on the edge of the New Forest National Park and close to the borders of Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset. The practice has been operating since 1992 and covers a radius of approximately 50 miles. With our extensive architectural and surveying experience we offer a tailor-made service which meets our clients' needs and realises the the full potential of each project.

The vast majority of our work covers the areas between Salisbury and Bournemouth with specific knowledge of the New Forest National Park, Cranborne Chase and the Isle of Purbeck. We have regular contact with and make planning applications to New Forest District Council, New Forest National Park, East and North Dorset District Councils, Purbeck District Council, Wiltshire Council, Poole Borough Council and Bournemouth Borough Council.

A comprehensive understanding of all the above councils' planning policies enables us to formulate the best strategies to secure planning approval for which we have an excellent success rate.
Services
David commenced his architectural career in Marlborough, Wiltshire in 1988 at Carter Jonas.
He worked under the direction of Philip Nicholson and Giles Bennett F.R.I.C.S. for 4 years in their architectural department whilst also carrying out land management duties.
The work involved the renovation of large country houses including Chisbury Manor, Biddestone Manor, Minety House and Vernham Manor as well as the design and construction of new dwellings.
Projects for the Crown Estate Commissioners were also undertaken while at Carter Jonas.
If contacting us by e-mail, it would be helpful if you could include the property name and address, a brief idea of the services you are looking for and a contact telephone number if possible.
DCA has also a particular interest in historic buildings.
David Cutler, MD of DCA, is a Chartered Building Surveyor and as such can provide Home Buyers' Surveys, Conveyance Plans and Record Drawings and Building Surveys.
Extensions form the large majority of our workload and we are very experienced in advising you about what may or may not get through local planning laws.
Our expertise will maximise your chances of successfully achieving planning in the fastest time possible.
We are also very experienced in older buildings including listed buildings and also in timber framed extensions.
2 storey timber framed extension (to RHS of picture) to provide a playroom, library and new bathroom.
The extension is partly constructed into the hillside which required large retaining walls and complex waterproofing details.
Within the curtilage of a Grade I listed building, the barn was close to collapse and was completely restored in order to preserve it for the future.
The main challenge with this building was the south facing elevation which was badly bowed and the preservation of a cobbled floor which at the request of the conservation officer had to be retained under the new floor.
The clients live in a property nearby and needed additional space for their expanding business.
The barn conversion was particularly challenging as the east facing wall is predominantly of traditional cob construction and the west facing elevation required the restoration of flint panels.
DCA specialises in designing new buildings using old style materials to blend in with the rich building heritage of the New Forest and surrounding counties of Hampshire, Wiltshire & Dorset.
Timber framed, thatched roofed, two storey house.
Despite being completely new it is often mistaken for a 100-year-old cottage, being as much part of the Blissford landscape as the 100-year-old oak trees.
