Collier Stevens Established for over 20 years, Collier Stevens is an independent Chartered Building Surveyors practice providing a full range of surveying services throughout London and Kent. Thank you for your excellent work on the survey. What struck me was how you took time to understand what we were asking for in this survey and how conscientiously your work was planned and carried out.

We are an independent Chartered Building Surveyors practice, registered with both RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) and ISVA (Independent Surveyors & Valuers Association) with offices in London and the South East. Our specialist areas of practice are Building Surveys, Party Walls, Expert Witness Reports and Schedules of Conditions. Our 25 years experience as building surveyors means that our firm has surveyed, inspected and reported on a wide range of buildings from studio flats to power stations.

Buying a property to live or work in is the biggest financial commitment most people ever make. Many buyers do not commission independent building surveys or homebuyer reports but the right survey will almost certainly draw your attention to defects that you didn't know existed and enables you to make an informed, objective and considered decision and, possibly renegotiate your purchase price.

As many as 80% of buyers do not commission independent building surveys, homebuyer reports or other property inspections. The right survey will almost certainly draw your attention to defects that you didn't know existed, or the seriousness of which you may not have appreciated. It enables you to make an informed, objective and considered decision and, in many cases, to renegotiate your purchase price.

As important as Planning Consent & Building Regulation Approval, it is your responsibility, not the Local Authority's, to find out whether that work falls within the Act and whether you need a Party Wall Agreement, properly known as a 'Party Wall Award'. If it does, you must correctly notify and have received the written consent of all affected neighbours. A quick word over the garden fence is not satisfactory.

These are usually required to be presented in a particular format (CPR35). Collier Stevens provides expert witness services for residential property matters across London & Kent. Landlord & tenant service charge disputes where we have acted for both freeholders and leaseholders. Landlord and tenant assured shorthold tenancy checkout and damage disputes and claims against deposit. We have provided reports on behalf of the relevant ombudsman services and the consumer refund service.

This includes failing to consider how disabled people may be able to access your building and service so it is a statutory requirement and a key duty for businesses and public organisations to make it possible for disabled people to access public buildings and services. It is also true that for different sized organisations and differing services, the scope of reasonable adjustments may also vary - for instance a small greengrocer communicating with a person with hearing difficulties by means of a written note may be reasonable, but for a major high street supermarket chain that would not be reasonable, and a more suitable approach may be an acoustic loop system to allow verbal communication.

read more › Collier Stevens provides a range of services to support your building projects, from a comprehensive building and contract management service to a range of more bespoke services. Generally, we undertake management of building projects in the range 25,000 to 250,000 for commercial and public sector clients, most commonly overseeing freeholder's obligations to maintain and repair their residential blocks. We do not provide a building project contract management service to domestic clients. Where the project is more complicated in nature, even if it is of relatively low value, we will often work as part of a team with, or engage, other professionals, including Quantity Surveyors, Structural Engineers and Architects.

read more › Collier Stevens Chartered Surveyors want to make life as easy as possible for people undertaking Party Wall work. We've put some party wall notice templates that you can download for free here, but before completing these, please take a look at our Party Wall Procedure Flowchart. You will still need a surveyor to complete the process if your neighbour does not agree. These notices are not the final agreement. You will need one of those professionally prepared if your neighbours object to your work.
