Carter Towler was created in 2008 by the merger of Towlers and Carter and Co, two of the best known commercial surveying and property consultancy names in Leeds. The merger formed one of the biggest independent agency practices outside London, with Carter Towler occupying a unique position in the property consultancy hierarchy by providing the sort of multi-disciplined services normally associated with the larger national and international firms, combined with an exceptional, regional knowledge base.

Ashley Smith undertakes rent reviews throughout the North on behalf of a broad range of existing and new clients. Some have a single property whilst others have extensive property portfolios. Much of our work is referred to us by existing clients or professionals including accountants and solicitors but instructions from all sources are very welcome. Rent review settlements are usually based on market rental values.

read more › For a variety of reasons rating assessments of non-domestic property may be inaccurate or inappropriate. We offer a service that initially involves assessing the potential for a reduction. If a reduction appears to be justified, Ashley Smith will prepare and submit an appeal on behalf of a client. We will then negotiate with the Inland Revenue's Valuation Office as they are responsible for the assessment of rateable values nationally. This can result in a non-domestic rate account being adjusted or alternatively a refund may be granted from the Local Authority.
