The local knowledge Martin and Martin offer is second to none and it is this expertise that brings clients back again and again.

If you are thinking about purchasing a property then you should consider having a private survey carried out, to ensure you are fully informed of structural and price considerations before you enter into a binding contract to purchase.Purchasing a property is one of the more important and expensive decisions most of us ever have to make.
Services
The Martin family have been surveying and valuing residential property in the Bishop's Stortford area since 1965 and are now second generation local surveyors.
We have accumulated unrivalled local knowledge of the housing market and have a depth of understanding of regional construction methods, from Listed, thatched and timber framed country cottages to system built terraces in Harlow.
We strive to provide our clients with first-class, professional, clear and sensible advice on a broad range of residential based property matters.
Purchasing a property is one of the more important and expensive decisions most of us ever have to make.
Commissioning a private survey helps ensure that the decision to proceed, or otherwise, is a fully informed one.
Whilst most purchasers rely on the valuation carried out for their lender, the inspection is highly limited and the report and valuation prepared only reflect items which are of importance to the lender.
As such, all they provide the purchaser with is an indication of value and the limited reassurance that the lender is happy to accept the property as security for its loan.
The Building Survey report covers all elements of the building and provides description and discussion of materials, constructional methods, condition and necessary repairs together with advice on current and future maintenance.
The report may include a valuation, as required.
Our building survey can be tailored to meet your specific requirements.
These can include invasive investigations, if prior consent for these is given by the property owner.
We provide holistic, practical, common sense advice in our building surveys to help you understand the structure and materials and their relative strengths and vulnerabilities.
We are fortunate to live in an area that is rich in built heritage.
As an owner or potential owner of a Listed building you will want to understand the historic/architectural significance of the building and its site and ensure that any changes to it preserve or enhance that which makes it special.
We have a Partner with a Post Graduate Diploma in Conservation of the Historic Environment from the College of Estate Management who can assist you in all matters relating to Listed buildings.
When having a valuation carried out, it is very important to select a valuer with experience of valuing similar properties in the area.
At Martin and Martin, we have unrivalled local experience valuing all types of property in the area we cover and offer impartial, practical and professional advice.
You may be considering purchasing a property for cash and are happy with it's condition but wish to be sure that you are paying the correct price.
You may need a valuation for probate, matrimonial or other Court purposes, including CPR or FPR compliant Expert Witness reports.
